Montblanc was born in 1906 when the paper maker Claus Johannes Voss, the banker Alfred Nehemias and the engineer August Eberstein joined forces to manufacture fountain pens that bring more elegance to writing.

After a few years, the company expanded thanks to its creativity, and moved into the very high end of the market, first with leather goods and then with luxury watches.

In 1997, Montblanc entered the luxury watch market. In 2008, the brand unveiled its first calibre watch made in the workshop, which paid tribute to the inventor of the chronograph, Nicolas Rieussec.
